Sudhir Patwardhan regarded as one of the India's important contemporary artist .Patwardhan was born in Pune, Maharashtra in 1949. In 1972 he graduated in Medicine from the Armed Forces Medical College, Pune. He then moved to Mumbai in 1973 and worked as a Radiologist in Thane from 1975 to 2005.Post 2005,he became a full-time artist. The city-scape features prominently in his canvases, and in them reflect the agonies of the urban middle class and poor, both dark and dense. Patwardhan’s works are in the permanent collection of National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi and Mumbai; Roopankar Museum, Bhopal; Kiran Nadar Museum of Art, New Delhi, Jehangir Nicholson Collection, Mumbai; the Peabody Essex Museum, Salem, USA and other prominent private and public collections.

Happy Hands Foundation is committed towards the revival of traditional/folk arts and crafts, empowering rural artisans, and building potential in women and young people to lead community development activities and craft entrepreneurship. 

In the fast-paced, globalised world today, the value of handmade products has been declining steadily. With over 200 crafts endangered, there’s a need for enhancing and developing perception of crafts amidst masses, in a more specialised way. The stories represented by the various communities and tribes need to be retold in today’s time, where a global culture is replacing the tradition we have held for thousands of years - a gift from our ancestors, and an important part of India’s cultural history.

About the Play:

‘Cheruvannur Diaries- Typewriter Tales’ is a narration of the experiences of a typewriter salesman in North Kerala in the ‘80s. Told in a simple way, it presents the stories of simple people, communities and institutions, which were nevertheless very colourful and engaging. It is also a tribute to a grand old product that was once upon a time, the nerve centre not only of offices, but of many other institutions and lives.

In situ_India paintings show by Kevin Todd

Kevin Todd is an artist and designer originally from Ireland and living in Australia since the early 1980s. He is a graduate of Sydney College of the Arts and the Tasmanian School of Art and currently SeniorLecturer in computer-based art and design at the University of the Sunshine Coast, Queensland. 

Kevin has exhibited and undertaken residencies and projects internationally including with the Australian Antarctic Division, the Australian Museum and the Australian Pulp and Paper Institute. In 1995 he spent a year in Malaysia on an Asialink fellowship and he has also been a visiting professor at the State University of New York and a visiting scholar at New York University. 

His art practice has two components; art-for-architecture where work is made/designed for a specific context and work for exhibition, which is generally more personal. A feature of his exhibition work has been a concern with limits of rationalism and the relationship between art, science and technology in Western culture.
